Bio Brief: Francine Z. Carlin With over 25 years of business experience - including senior executive and hands-on management positions in a variety of industries, both public and private, union and non-union - Francine knows first-hand how interpersonal dynamics and emotional issues can affect business decision-making and long-term organizational well-being.Over the course of her career, Francine has built strong competencies in conflict resolution, organizational communications, leadership development, and change management. Her efforts to create a learning organization at EDS Corporation were featured in the anthology Making it Happen - Stories from the New Workplace (Pegasus Communications, 1999). Francine continually draws on all of her experiences to facilitate her proven Business Harmonizer™ process of Reconciliation, Renewal, and Relationship. As a consultant, facilitator and coach, Francine works in partnership with leaders and teams to help them recognize and break through the silent barriers to realizing individual and organizational goals. Of particular note is her work with business families, public libraries, and entrepreneurs, whose continuity and harmony are essential underpinnings of our communities and economy. Family Owned Businesses In her work with business families, Francine is effective at linking emotional issues with the real world of business to help address succession planning and inter-generational issues, resolve conflicts, promote meaningful communication, build a family legacy and develop best practices for family business management. Francine is a certified Family Business Education Facilitator, having completed the Family Council Facilitation course, the RoadMap Facilitator Course for Entrepreneurial Families, and the Business Families Foundation Course for Professionals. She is a member of the Canadian Association of Family Enterprise, the Family Firm Institute and the Vancouver Business Transition Group. Public libraries Francine works with libraries to facilitate cultural transformation, strengthen communication and understanding, and promote leadership and team development. She has served as an organizational coach for the North Vancouver City Library and the Anchorage Municipal Library System, and has participated in panel presentations on leadership and cultural transformation at the 2006 Public Library Association International Conference and the 2004 and 2007 Canadian Library Association National Conferences. Entrepreneurial Partnerships fuel economic growth and innovation through their passion and commitment to taking risks. Francine works with entrepreneurial partnerships to develop shared vision and values, establish a corporate governance framework, promote teamwork, enhance communications, and develop leadership best practices. Francine holds a Master's Degree from The State University of New York, and has completed applied studies in interpersonal and group dynamics as well as the creative arts. In addition to her consulting work, she is an Associate Faculty member of Royal Roads University in Victoria, BC, where she also has served on the Board of Governors from 2002-2007. In this capacity, she was Chairperson of the University's Program Research Council.
